Our family history about our Ancestors, Octive & Alberta, and our Families have been detailed in a series of 3 documentaries. There are 2 completed with the 3rd to be done sometime in the future. There will also be videos and stories recalled by memories of family members.

This video is in honor of the Centenarian of our family: Lorene Dennis.
The 2nd born child of Octive & Alberta Heard, she lived to be 100 years old; 1921-2021.

While during family research, by sheer coincidence, a document was discovered called:

“Slave Narratives from the Federal Writers' Project”

The Federal Writers' Project  was a federal government project in the United States. It was dedicated to chronicling the experience of slavery as remembered by former slaves.  Over 2300 African-American men and women born into slavery were interviewed. Their stories were recorded and transcribed from 1936 to 1938.
This 5-page document was from one of the former slaves recorded.
He was our great-great uncle “Clark Heard”, 5th child of Amos Heard.

50th Wedding Anniversary
50th Wedding Anniversary
As time progresses, our families are expanding even more through new marriages, new births or even extended families.
The grandchildren from our first family reunion are now grandparents themselves.  We really have become our
mothers and fathers, and realize how important it is now more than ever, to keep the Heard Family legacy an ongoing tradition.
We should encourage and motivate the younger generations to want to know all  about their Aunts, Uncles and Cousins etc...

We are most grateful to all the family members who have been on a quest to find our family roots. Whether it’s through shared stories, listening to actual accounts, searching on the internet or remembering what we saw, heard, or had been told in past years.

Anyone who knows things about our history, please tell it to someone or write it down, don’t let it slip away to be forgotten.

Most of our elders are no longer here, so it is up to us to
HONOR
their memory so our future generations can understand, and learn what an exceptional foundation that was laid by our Grandparents and Parents.

They should also know how truely "Blessed" we are as a family to still have maintained strong family relationships throughout these many decades.
